De London-baserte kunstnerne Mia Harris og Andrea Greenwood har vært «artists in residence» i perioden mandag 23. september - tirsdag 1. oktober 2019 gjennom prosjektet Neptun Art/Science Lab. Målet er at kunstnerne om ett år skal komme tilbake og avslutte prosjektet, og i mellomtiden vil de holde kontakt med melbusamfunnet.
Kunstnerne har fått komme inn i arkivet til Museum Nord, holdt workshop på Melbu skole, møtt lokale lag og foreninger og besøkt lokale kunstnere. Kanskje møtet med asylsøkere bosatt ved Bankplassen asylmottak gjorde sterkest inntrykk. Under oppholdet ble det kjent at UDI har besluttet å legge ned mottaket etter 32 års drift på Melbu ved årsskiftet.
Kunstnernes prosjektfokus har blitt farget av alle menneskemøtene gjennom oppholdet, og har fått tittelen "Home Sweet Home/Hjem kjære hjem». Hvem er vi og hvor hører vi til? Hva berører oss og hvilken skjebne møter vi på livets vei? Hva beriker vår tilværelse?

The London-based artists, Mia Harris and Andrea Greenwood, have been «artists in residence» during the period of Monday 23 September to Tuesday 1 October 2019, under the auspices of the Neptun Art/Science Lab project. The goal now is for the artists to come back after one year and complete the project, and in the meantime they will stay in touch with the community of Melbu.
The artists have been given access to Museum Nord’s archive; they have conducted a workshop at Melbu skole, met local clubs and associations and visited local artists. It was perhaps their encounter with asylum seekers housed at Bankplassen Reception Centre that made the biggest impression on them. During their stay, the Norwegian Directorate of Immigration announced that they had decided to discontinue the asylum centre by the end of the year, after 32 years of operation in Melbu.
The focus of the artists’ project has been coloured by all the human encounters during their stay and has been given the title "Home Sweet Home/Hjem kjære hjem». Who are we and where do we belong? What touches us, and what fates do we meet along life’s way? What enriches our existence?
